Special Education
Overview
The Waimea College Special Education Department is an integral part of the College and students have a range of inclusion and specialist subject opportunities and also enjoy the peer tutoring programme and being part of the leadership initiatives across the school.

The department began in 1989 with nine students. Today we have close to 40 students enrolled. Our 5 classroom spaces include one specifically designed to meet the sensory needs of students on the Autistic Spectrum. Our Speech and Language therapist, Social Education through Music specialist, Physiotherapist and a registered Psychologist all provide the specialist knowledge and skills to complement our focused, functional, fun and relevant curriculum.
