Japanese for Beginners Level 1 – Easy Travel Japanese

Thursday 6.20 – 7.20 pm (8 weeks)

Dive into the essentials of Japanese using NHK WORLD-JAPAN’s “Easy Travel Japanese” cirriculum.  This course focuses on core, practical set phrases for traveling in Japan, such as greetings, ordering food, asking for directions, and shopping.  No prior Japanese experience is necessary.  By the end, you’ll feel confident using basic, common expressions to enhance your trip.  Simple and fun!

Chinese Mandarin Beginners

Wednesday 6.15 – 7.15 pm (8 weeks)

A beginner friendly introduction to Mandarin with practical phrases, a few basic characters, and cultural insights to help make your interactions smoother.  No experience required.

Japanese for Beginners Level 2 – Easy Travel Japanese

Thursday 7.30 – 8.30 pm (8 weeks)

This course is designed for students who have completed Level 1 or have equivalent experience.  The focus is on talking about yourself, including giving personal introductions, sharing hobbies explaining motivations and wishes, and talking about experiences of travelling in Japan,  Students will use free audio, video and PDF recources to support their learning.  The course is designed to buld confidence in meaningful personal interactions in a travel context.

te reo Māori Beginners

Monday 6.30 – 8.30 pm (9 weeks)

Have fun learning the basics of Maori language and protocols (Te reo Maori me ona tikanga) including pronunciation, greetings, basic conversation, tikanga, placenames, local history.  We welcome repeat Maori language students.  Open for adults and college students with approval and most people are eligible for a 50% subsidy.

te reo Māori Beyond Beginners

Thursday 6.30 – 8.30 pm (8 weeks)

This is a carry on programme from te reo Māori Beginners with emphasis on communication and understanding aspects of  tikanga Māori. Open for adults and college students with approval. Most people are eligible for a 50% subsidy.

Speaking Spanish One

An introductory conversational Spanish course. Learn some basic phrases for travel or for striking up conversations. Most people are eligible for a 50% subsidy.

NZ Sign Language Level 1A

6.30 pm – 8.30 pm (8 weeks)

Learn basic NZSL conversation skills and begin to understand and develop NZSL grammar skills.  Develop the use of facial expressions and improve visual and spatial awareness. Open for adults and college students with approval. Most people are eligible for a 50% subsidy.
