What we value
Overview
We are a values based school with a focus on creating good human beings. We ensure everything we do is centred around our values of caring, belonging and learning.
My time at Waimea College has been really meaningful.
The school’s focus on values like manakitanga, akoranga, and whanaungatanga connects strongly with my cultural background and has helped me feel a genuine sense of belonging.
The wide range of opportunities offered has also allowed me to build on my strengths,
improve my academic performance, and feel confident about my future.”
— Rosarine, Year 11
Be the best you can be
It is expected that students and staff are guided by our values to ensure that the experience of anyone in our school community is positive and uplifting.
We adopt a firm, fair and consistent approach to managing behaviour within the frameworks of Restorative Practice and Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L), using our values to guide this.
At Waimea College we encourage you to be the best you can be by:
- caring for yourself, others and the environment;
taking pride in being part of Waimea College; - respecting and celebrating everyone’s differences;
- always striving to learn and grow.
