School Culture and Climate
Waimea College has a proud history of academic, cultural and sporting excellence. Our aim is to provide an environment where students are given every opportunity to realise their full potential at every level.
We foster a positive environment and encourage leadership, responsibility, self discipline, positive interaction and healthy competition. Our aim is to help students develop into genuinely friendly and helpful people. Courtesy and honesty are qualities we come to expect from all our students.
School Facilities
Waimea College is a multi-course, co-educational secondary school with a roll of 1400+ students. The College has a proud tradition of success in academic, cultural and sporting achievements.
We occupy attractive park like grounds, that provide a relaxed and spacious environment for our students. The College is well equipped with specialist facilities and advanced technology and equipment. There is a spacious assembly hall, performing arts suite, well resourced International Students Centre, computer pods and specialist rooms for Materials Technology, Graphics and Art. The spacious grounds include an area for raising plants in the Biotechnology Department. The school kiosk is centrally located and has won Heartbeat Awards for its selection of modestly priced, health, wholesome food.

Curriculum
Waimea College provides an innovative, relevant, expansive curriculum. We offer a wide range of choice beyond the core curriculum in the junior school, including selection from the 'technology-rich' section of the option choices. The options explored at this level prepare our students well for the senior school curriculum, which has some exciting features.
Support Systems
Waimea College recognises the importance of personal development and provides a very strong, responsive guidance network, sensitive to the guidance needs of students. We have fully qualified and trained guidance counsellors (male and female) offering personal, behavioural, educational and family counselling, as well as career counselling services.
