Accommodation

When choosing a homestay it is very helpful to know as much about you as possible. Consider the following questions:

  • Do you like young children or would you prefer a family with no children?
  • Do you like animals? (Lots of New Zealand families have a cat or a dog or sometimes they might have both).
  • Are there any foods you are allergic to or any you don't like? What foods do you like most?
  • Are you religious? Is it important to you to be able to attend services?
  • What are your favourite things to do in your spare time? Do you have a favourite sport?
  • Would you like to try a new activity or sport whilst in New Zealand?

When your homestay placement has been finalised we will send you the Homestay Family Profile. This may include some photographs of the family or even of the home itself.  From that point on, you may begin correspondence with the family and get to know them before your arrival.
When you arrive at Nelson airport you will be met by a representative of Waimea College along with your homestay family.  We advise you to arrive approximately 4 - 5 days before the commencement of your course.
